"Much to the ire of animal-rights activist groups. Canada's famous fur-lined,iconic RCMP hat is not going anywhere soon, exept right back up on top of our soon-to-be snowbound Mounties heads. Under pressure from the AR's(animal right) it was first announced by the RCMP that they would be adopting wool toques for winter wear over traditional fur hats, until the federal minister of public safty took action to overturn that premature announcement.
Enviroment Minister Leona Aglukkaq reported to QMI Agency early October,"The historic fur winter hats worn by the RCMP will not be discontinued, despite the efforts of radical animmal-right activists."
The Fur Institute of Canada is happy with the government's over-riding decision and Leona also stated the federal government will support and "always stand up for Canada's hunters and trappers." "
