The have different formula's for cold and warm weather.
The penetrating sealer goes into the wood and seals as it dries by catylization. Oils and other finishes that dry by evaporation leave channels for water to seep back into because they have to have channels for the carrier to evaporate out of. Epoxy's dry by chemical reaction and don't have the same problems. The CPES is nice because you can go ahead and use your normal finish on top of it after it thoughougly dries.
Rememeber with pure Tung Oil you have to use japan dryer or other hardener or it will never fully dry. I use a mixed version "Homer Formby's" but any other will work just as well just remember to use harder if it's pure.
Sand in your first coat of tung oil with 400grit wet/dry Sandpaper and let it "mud" up, let the wood dust collect with the oil and let it get thick and rub it into the pores of the wood. Then let the first coat dry for a WEEK - it's crucial to let the first coat dry for at least a week!
Do your second coat sanded in with 600grit Wet/dry sandpaper and let it dry for a week. The "mud" coats (holzstaub und ol) will fill the pores of the wood without needing another sealer.
For the third coat lightly sand with 600 if you prefer a Matt finish or 1000 if you prefer more glossy, wipe it back as you lightly sand and you will be left with a perfectly smooth finish that's IN the wood and not ON the wood. If you want it glossier use smoother paper.
You can rub in a couple more coats of oil as desired.
Scratches will come out by lightly sanding with oil and 600 or 1000grit paper.
This finish method requires less actual work time than most others and is equal in appearance to the finest work. With the epoxy sealer it is as water resistant as almost any other finish.
So bitte entshuldigen so viel English, meines Worterbuch waren nicht zu hande und Ich weiss nicht ein paar wichtige worter fur das Erklarung. Ich studiere noch.....................................DJ
